Kill
Devil Hills located on Bodie Island of the NC Outer Banks, is the largest
town in Dare County with a year-round population of almost 7,000 people.
Derived from the nickname for rum locals would scavenge from ship wrecks
and hide behind the dune, that they said was strong enough to kill the
devil. Today, Kill Devil Hills is one of the most popular Outer Banks
vacation destinations. Available are thousands of rental homes, great
restaurants, sports, activities, and shopping.
Kill Devil Hills North Carolina is the location of Orville and Wilbur Wright's glider experiments in the years prior to their first successful flight on December 17, 1903. The park and museum of the Wright Brothers National Monument that commemorates their contributions to the world is located here.
