Holden Beach NC Island Guide
After prospering as a commercial fishing center in the 1920s, Holden Beach evolved into a full-fledged family vacation spot in the 1930s.Holden Beach’s history as a prospering commercial fishing center gives it its unique flavor still today. Not surprisingly, Holden Beach is still known for its excellent offshore fishing and features a full-service fishing pier for both amateur and expert fisherman with Holden Beach fishing report available and a beach campground holden pier. Holden Beach is also known for its surf fishing and fishing season is still celebrated with both a spring and a fall festival. Holden Beach a Brunswick Barrier Island is about eight miles long and
connected to the mainland by only one two-lane elevated bridge over the
intracoastal waterway. Holden Beach has about 900 permanent residents.
Population increases to approx. 15,000 during the Holden Beach NC vacation
rental season between the months of May and August. The island is just
one half mile wide at its widest point, so most of its holden beach house
rental, or vacation rental home and Holden Beach condo rental have spectacular
ocean views from most sides. Oceanfront properties as almost all holden
beach rental properties, always include marsh and / or canal views from
the front decks and windows.
The town of Holden Beach has one of the county's regional beach access
points, a 90-space parking lot with handicapped-equipped restrooms and
showers. A ramp to the beach, paid for by a state grant, provides handicapped
accessibility to the shore. Holden Beach also has laid sidewalks along
its main road Ocean Blvd.
Holden Beach has a handful of businesses, including beach campground, beach motel, beach camping, some very good Holden Beach restaurant, jet ski rentals, rv resort village, Holden Beach NC mini storage, general stores, apparel stores, holden beach hotels, and real estate agencies.The unincorporated mainland area leading to the island's bridge has a few restaurants, novelty shops, ice cream shops, convenience stores, but entertainment is limited mostly to North Myrtle.
